Battle at The Urheilutalo to Feature Unbeaten Prospect Denis¨Djingis Khan¨ Shafikov

On Saturday October 24, unbeaten Denis Shafikov of Miass Russia faces his biggest test when he challenges Mexico’s Fernando ¨El Pillo¨ Trejo for the vacant IBO Intercontinental Light-Welterweight crown. It’s the type of fight where Shafikov will take the first step towards showing which category of fighter he will turn out to be, Champion, Contender, or just a crowd pleasing battler.

This will be the first opportunity he will have to put his first title belt in his trophy case, for the 24-year-old Shafikov (21-0-0, 12 KOs) would like nothing better than to add his first belt to his resume on October 24th, in which is his tenth fight outside of his native Russia. In his last bout, on September 25th, ¨Djingis Khan¨ disposed of Alexey Volchan in 2 rounds.

A native of Mexico City, the tough and experienced Trejo (35-15-0, 18 KOs) is the perfect foil for an up and comer like Shafikov, Trejo has many different championships under his belt including the Super featherweight IBO Intercontinental Championship and the Lightweight NABA and NABF, Fernando has been in with some of the top light weight class fighters in the USA, such as former World Champions Julio Diaz, Jose Armando Santa Cruz Ricky Quiles and current World Champions such as Agnaldo Nuñez, Urbano Antillon and Anthony Peterson.. The 33-year-old, who now makes his home in Dallas Texas, is coming off a unanimous decision loss over 10 rounds to former Lightweight Champion Julio Diaz.

Returning to the ring on the same night would be Russia’s Welterweight Roman Seliverstov (10-8-0 2 KOs) to fight his biggest test to date on former world title contender Cosme ¨El Chino¨ Rivera to fight over 12 Rounds for the IBO Intercontinental title in the hands of the Russian and making this fight, Seliverstov’s first defence of his belt.

The 33-year-old Seliverstov is making his first appearance since his last win over Peter Semo via 12 rounds unanimous decision to win the IBO Intercontinental Welterweight Title. A crowd pleaser with dynamite in both fists, Rivera is a former world title contender by facing Zab Judah and has face the top of the Welter and Light-Middleweight Division such as Alfredo Angulo, Andre Berto, Joel Julio, Ricky Quiles and Gilberto Reyes just to mention a few champions and world contenders he has faced, Rivera is looking to bash his way back into the world rankings.

Two unbeaten prospects will also be in action on October 24th with Helsinki’s own Niko Jokinen (6-0 4 KOs) squaring off against Cliff Soukka (5-0-0 1KO) in a six round, with a possibility to make it his first 8 rounder at a Super-middleweight match-up, Also Finnish-based Lightweight sensation Edis Tatli (8-0, 1 KO) looking to continue his unbeaten streak against Alex Bone out of Ecuador Spanish-based with 2 Knockouts in his four wins.
